Bladder Urgency & Incontinence

Bladder urgency and incontinence is much more common than you might think, with Continence Health Australia reporting 7.2 million people with incontinence in Australia in 2023, representing 1 in 3 people over 15 years of age.

Although incontinence is more common than you might think, we know that does not make it any less personal. Whatever your symptoms or experience with incontinence is, our goal is to help you regain confidence, comfort and control again.

Our pelvic health team provide a range of treatments tailored to your needs, including pelvic floor muscle strengthening, coordination and bladder retraining, urge suppression techniques, pessary fitting and education on load management and good bladder habits.

Whatever your experience with bladder urgency or incontinence, our pelvic health team will work with you to help navigate your pelvic health journey with confidence.

Stress Vs Urge Incontinence, what’s the difference?

Stress incontinence is triggered by pressure on your bladder. For example, when you laugh, cough, sneeze or do something physical like playing sport, lifting, or jumping.

Urge incontinence is triggered by an overactive bladder. Signs of urge incontinence include ‘urges’ to go to the toilet and not making it in time.

Mixed incontinence is when someone is having symptoms of both urge and stress incontinence.

Pelvic health physiotherapy is a very effective way of helping manage and improve these symptoms of incontinence.
